The RTL English Curriculum is comprised of 15 learning levels. These levels offer a total of 600 student workbooks, 4000 worksheets and 12,500 teaching notes that you can use to teach your child from 3 to 18 years old. Each level offers up to 36 lessons (& weeks) of teaching. You can teach the lessons as fast or slow as you like.

Level 15 : Learning Overview

LEVEL 15 – Upper Intermediate Stage
Suitable for children aged 17 to 18 years old
Course Objectives:

Course Description:
The Student will be taught to write in many styles: diary, journalistic, creative, letter formats, e-mail, notes etc. The students are encouraged to create and develop a character, around which they write a story. The student will study different styles of poetry, prepare a CV, use persuasive writing, understand copy-writing and proofing of their own work. Develop the skill of reading prose and poetry out loud and how to build tension through pace, silence and delivery.

Preparation for Cambridge University’s First Certificate of English (FCE) & Trinity Spoken tests
Level 15 prepares our students for the Cambridge University’s First Certificate of English (FCE) & Trinity Spoken tests. FCE is for people who can use everyday written and spoken English at an upper-intermediate level.

CAMBRIDGE FCE TEST

TRINITY COLLEGE SPOKEN

  • Establish and maintain relationships and routines.

  • To anticipate with others in planning. Developing and organising and carrying out events.
  • To obtain and provide objects, services and information in a wider and more complex and simulated situation

Knowledge Strand

  • To provide or find out, select, analyse, present information on familiar and unfamiliar topics.
  • To interpret and use more extensive and complex information through processes or activities such as ordering, describing, defining, classifying, comparing, explaining, justifying, predicting, inferring, summarising, synthesising, evaluating and drawing conclusions.
  • To identify and discuss critically ideas, issues, themes, arguments, view and attitudes in spoken and written texts, make connections, refine and generate ideas, express or apply them.
  • To identify and define more complex problems from given information, consider related factors, explore and discuss options, solve problems, evaluate and justify solutions or offer alternatives.
  • To understand how the English language works.

Experience Strand

  • To develop a response to a wider range of imaginative or literary texts such as:
  • Presentations, identifying and discussing themes, appreciating the use of language and sound patterns.
  • To respond to characters, events, issues and themes in imaginative and narrative texts.
  • Making predictions, analysing actions and motivations of characters, relating characters to one’s own experiences, articulating and presenting one’s own views and feelings, putting oneself in the roles and situations of the story’ participating in dramatic presentations.
  • To give expression to imaginative ideas through oral, written and preformative means.
  • To give expression to one’s experience through activities such as presentations of monologues etc.
